How to Replace the Turntable Motor in a Maytag Microwave

Phillips screwdriver
1/4" nut driver (optional)
Needle-nose pliers
Replacement turntable motor

Step 1: Unplug the Microwave

Always disconnect your microwave from power before working on it to avoid electric shock.

Step 2: Access the Bottom Panel

Carefully flip the microwave onto its back or side to access the bottom panel. Remove the screws securing the panel to expose the turntable motor.

Step 3: Remove the Old Motor

Locate the motor directly beneath the center of the microwave. Disconnect the wire harness, then unscrew the mounting screws holding the motor in place. Lift it out and set it aside.

Step 4: Install the New Motor

Align the new motor in the same position and secure it with screws. Reconnect the wire harness firmly. Make sure the drive shaft aligns with the turntable coupler inside the microwave.

Step 5: Reassemble and Test

Reattach the bottom panel, stand the microwave upright, plug it in, and place a cup of water inside. Start a quick heating cycle and observe if the turntable now rotates smoothly.
