Frigidaire Dishwasher Stops Mid-Cycle and Blinks Green Light

Appliance: Dishwasher — Model: FGID2476SF7A

Asked By: Rachel Mendez

Question Details:
Hi, I have a Frigidaire dishwasher model FGID2476SF7A. It starts a cycle, fills with water, and begins washing, but then suddenly stops mid-cycle. The green “Clean” light just keeps blinking and nothing else happens. I’ve tried resetting the breaker and running it again, but the same thing keeps happening. What could be causing this?

Hi Rachel,

When a Frigidaire dishwasher like model FGID2476SF7A stops mid-cycle and the “Clean” light blinks, it’s typically reporting an error condition — often a failed drain, heater issue, or stuck button.

Here’s what I recommend checking:

  1. Press and hold the "Cancel" button for 3 seconds to clear any stuck cycles or errors.
  2. Check the float switch (in the bottom front corner). If it's stuck in the up position, the dishwasher may think it’s full of water and won’t proceed.
  3. Test the heating element: The dishwasher might stop mid-cycle if it can’t heat the water. You can use a multimeter to check for continuity (it should read between 10–30 ohms).
  4. Look for stored error codes: To enter diagnostic mode, follow the directions in the video below.

Finally, if the control board detects a problem and aborts the cycle, you may need to run a full diagnostics reset.

Let me know what error code it shows or if the float switch moves freely — I’ll guide you through the next step!

I tried the diagnostic mode and got the error code "i30". What does that mean, and how do I fix it?
MasterTech Reply:

The error code i30 on your Frigidaire dishwasher indicates a leak or water in the base pan, triggering the leak protection system. This means the unit has detected moisture in the bottom tray beneath the tub and has shut itself down to prevent damage.

Here's how to resolve it:

  1. Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the breaker for safety.
  2. Pull the dishwasher out carefully and tip it back about 45 degrees. If there's water in the base, you may see it drain out — this can reset the float sensor.
  3. Check underneath for any obvious signs of a leak from a hose, pump, or tub seam. A flashlight can help here. If you find the leak source, it will need to be sealed or the part replaced.
  4. Once dry, restore power and run a short cycle to test. If the code returns, the leak or float switch issue hasn’t been fully resolved.

If you’re not seeing any water in the pan, the float switch itself may be stuck or faulty. It sits at the bottom of the unit and sends the leak signal when lifted. A defective switch can falsely trigger the i30 code.

Let me know what you find when you tip it and check for water. I can walk you through replacing any parts if needed.

I tilted the dishwasher back and some water came out, but when I ran a new cycle it stopped again with the same i30 error. I checked underneath and didn’t see any visible leak. Could the float switch just be faulty?
MasterTech Reply:

Thanks for the update, Rachel. Since you found water in the base pan, that confirms the pressure sensor is working correctly — it’s doing its job by preventing operation while a leak condition exists.

Now that the pan is dry and you’ve confirmed there’s no ongoing leak, the next step is to perform a calibration cycle. This resets the pressure sensor logic and clears the i30 fault if the issue has been resolved.

How to run the calibration cycle:

Follow the steps in the video I gave you earlier.

After the calibration, try running a normal cycle. If the i30 error comes back even though the pan is dry and there’s no visible leak, the pressure sensor may be malfunctioning.

In that case, replace the sensor (Frigidaire Part #4840951) and run the calibration cycle again after installation. That should fully reset the system.

Let me know how the calibration goes or if you need help sourcing the part.

Just wanted to follow up — I ran the calibration cycle like you suggested and everything worked perfectly! The dishwasher is running normally again with no more blinking lights or error codes. Thanks so much for your help!
MasterTech Reply:

That’s great to hear, Rachel! I’m glad the calibration cycle resolved the issue and everything is back to normal. If anything else comes up down the road — strange noises, performance changes, or new codes — feel free to reach out anytime. Happy washing!
